Capital Improvements

Recently the Friends of the Opera House has funded:

  • New sound system for Stage Left and for the Opera House
  • Carpeting for main entrance foyer
  • Risers for choral concerts
  • Replacement of the drinking fountain
  • New dance floor for Opera House Stage
  • New traveler curtain for stage
  • Photography equipment
  • Video recording equipment
  • LED wall on main stage
  • Washer/Dryer for Stage Left
  • Sound Equipment for Stage
  • Digital Lobby Displays
  • Light Rigging Replacement

Community Impact

Besides providing funds for Opera House capital improvements, the Friends of the Opera House gives grants to resident users to enhance the Opera House experience for patrons. These include Theatre 121, Off Square Music, Judith Svalander Dance Theatre, Woodstock Fine Arts Association, and the Woodstock Community Choir. Community outreach also includes financial support for programing for children, active older adults and entertainment to enrich the multi-cultural experience in the community.

In the past few years, funds have been awarded for:

  • Town Square Players and Musical Theater Group opening night receptions
  • District 200 Madrigal Singers costumes
  • Treasure Island production (a children's participation play)
  • Theatre 121 Youth training program
  • Woodstock Children’s Summer Theater 
  • Off Square amateur recitals at Stage Left
  • Ballet Folklorico 
  • Collaboration with Soar @ Dorr and other groups that support active older adults to provide Opera House experiences
  • Family Fun Day in the Park
